Medical Cannabis Is Moving Forward in Daviess County and Kentucky

Medical cannabis is on its way to becoming a reality in Kentucky, thanks to the efforts of Governor Andy Beshear and Kentucky Democrats. This progressive step will bring relief and hope to countless Kentuckians and families who have long sought a safe and effective treatment option for serious medical conditions.

Daviess County is set to benefit greatly from the legalization of medical cannabis. With the announcement of the first dispensary recipients of medical cannabis licenses by Governor Beshear, patients in this region will soon be able to access the treatment they require more conveniently than ever before.

To further ease the process for patients, a new website has been launched, enabling Kentuckians to easily locate authorized providers for medical cannabis. This website will streamline the search for care and ensure that patients can access the treatment they need without any unnecessary delays or complications.

With Governor Beshear and Kentucky Democrats leading the way, medical cannabis is set to transform the healthcare landscape in Kentucky. This progressive step will bring relief and hope to countless individuals and families who have long sought a safe and effective treatment option.

Tyler Sagardoy talks about being a Kentucky Delegate at 2024 DNC

Tyler Sagardoy, a Daviess County resident who attended the 2024 DNC in Chicago last month as a Kentucky delegate, spoke to a group of Democrats at the DCDP Headquarters on Tues September 10.

Calling it "the Super Bowl and Disneyland all rolled into one," Tyler described what he did and what the atmosphere felt like. "Everybody was amped up and you could feel the electricity in the air."

Tyler described how his mornings began at 7am with breakfasts where dynamic speakers would come to talk to the Kentucky delegation. Speakers included top Kentucky Democratic officials like Gov. Andy Beshear, Rep. Morgan McGarvey, and KY Democratic Chairman Colmon Eldridge. Other prominent speakers included MI Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, PA Gov. Josh Shapiro, Gen-Z FL Rep. Maxwell Frost, and TX Rep. Jasmine Crockett.

After the speakers, Tyler visited McCormick Place where Dempalooza and Caucus Meetings were being held. "I met so many people and networked with Democrats all across the country. I learned so much."

Primetime activities were held at the United Center. "The Kentucky delegation sat right under the VIP section. I knew it got real on Monday when I stood up from my seat, turned around, and behind me was actor Mark Hamill - Luke Skywalker! All week I was sitting maybe 20 feet from Tim Walz, Doug Emhoff, and the Harris family."

Afterparty activities included parties at famous Chicago landmark and a Boyz II Men concert sponsored by MN Sen. Amy Klobuchar. The nights would end around 1am.

"All in all, I probably only got 16 hours of sleep that week, but if you ask if I would do it again, absolutely. No hesitation."

Owensboro native Hadley Duvall Speaks at 2024 Democratic National Convention

Owensboro native, reproductive rights activist, and Kamala Harris surrogate Hadley Duvall spoke on Monday August 19 during the first night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

In her speech, Ms. Duvall spoke about being raped and impregnated by her stepfather at 12, and how the overreaching laws advocated by Republicans since the Dodds decision (which ended Roe v. Wade) would strip her of her bodily autonomy, force her to make decisions she wouldn't otherwise make, and affect the trajectory of her life. Ms. Duvall understands that there are others like her, and that anti-abortion laws can have cruel consequences for women if exceptions are not made.

In 2023, Ms. Duvall was a spokesperson on reproductive rights for Governor Andy Beshear's reelection campaign. Gov. Beshear also spoke at the DNC later that night.

Daviess County Democrats Open 2024 Headquarters

Rain couldn't dampen the spirits of Democrats at the 2024 DCDP HQ opening on Aug 1st at the JDQ building.

More than 130 excited Democrats crowed together to get fired up for the 2024 Election!

Daviess County Democratic Party Chair, Larry Miller welcomed the crowd and speakers.

Clay Ford began the program celebrating the Daviess County victory for Gov. Andy Beshear in 2023 and challenging democrats to work in the fall for our party's candidates and issues!

Owensboro native Hadley Duvall (pictured above) inspired us with her personal story and delighted us with her magnetic personality. Her political mission is protecting women's reproductive rights and health. Hadley is a very busy national surrogate for the Harris campaign and you may see her in the news across the country. For more about her story, click here.

Retired Daviess County School Superintendent Matt Robbins is fired up about Voting "NO" on Amendment 2 this fall. This republican-led initiative would be devastating to Kentucky public schools. Please take the pledge to vote "NO" on Amendment 2. For more information, click here for the Protect Our Schools KY website.

Local Democratic chairman excited about Harris

By Scott Hagerman, Messenger-Inquirer | July 24, 2024

It’s been a tumultuous few weeks for the Democratic Party, culminating with President Joe Biden deciding not to seek reelection after his cognitive ability was widely questioned, which brought initial uncertainty about who would be on the party’s presidential ticket with the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in less than four weeks.

But Larry Miller, Daviess County Democratic Party chairman, anticipates momentum for the ticket building rapidly, as he pointed to the massive campaign donation haul the party has received in the last two days and the surge of Kamala Harris endorsements from party leaders and donors.
